Raising awareness for Rustem

Rustem Senad Feratovic was born on December 21st 1990.  Rustem was an ordinary kid which at the age of 17 was forced to be the head of his house hold. Unfortunately, Rustem lost his loving father Senad Feratovic to cancer. Rustem took on that roll not being prepared for it but he had no choice knowing that he had to support his mother Sehija, sister’s Suada, Senada, and his younger brother Rusmir. Nowaday we all know how hard it is to be an adult in this world trying to support your family and thats not easy let alone being a 17 year old kid that was hit by life’s reality. 

I am writing on behalf of my little brother Rustem Feratovic so that we can raise awareness of suicde in our community. Coming from another country where things are laid back and different we fail to realize the reality of stress and depression. It wasn’t easy for Rustem and Inshallah ALLAH reunites him with his father Senad which was not only his father but his best friend. I know for a fact that when Rustem lost his father that a huge piece of him was stolen away from him which made things harder. It’s not easy when you don’t have a father to guide you and help you when things get tough so that you can get past the road block life sends you. It’s also not easy when you know that the bills have to be paid every month and there isn’t much support besides the amount of hours that you put into work so that you can afford to maintain the luxury of this life. We are forced to this life style in this country because if we don’t work we don’t have, but then we neglect the more important things in our lives which is FAMILY. 

My concern is real and it hit me hard this morning that my little brother Rustem took his life because of the factors he was dealing with. Depression and stress is a silent killer which people should be more aware of. I beg all of you to find time in your busy lives and talk to your children, friends, & parents about how the day went or how they feeling because this will only help make us more aware of what they are going through. Everyone looks at situations that happen to other people and think “oh this wouldn’t happen to me or my family” but the reality is that maybe it hasn’t happened yet, but will you be prepared for when it does or will you take the appropriate steps to preventing this from happening.  Please be aware of the facts of life and what we go through to provide for our families and just remember its better to be safe than sorry.

I ask that you find it in your hearts to help Sehija, Suada, Senada and Rusmir cover the expenses for Rustem’s Funeral arrangements. Please donate whatever it is your heart desires because every little bit can help this family.
