Raining Threes for Ugandans w/ Parkinson's Disease

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 11 years ago.  Thanks to plentiful access to information and medication, I've maintained a good quality of life.

Those with Parkinson's in many low-income countries have no such opportunity.  In fact, it's commonly believed among many that Parkinson's is the result of witchcraft! Thus, a relatively manageable disease, at least early-on, is rendered a crippling, hopeless malady tearing families apart.

It doesn't have to be this way.  Conditions are already changing in Uganda. I was a firsthand witness to the heroic efforts of one man intent on changing perceptions of Parkinson's.   Kabugo Hannington watched his mother's brutal descent with Parkinson's and HIV and vowed to prevent others from  enduring such misery.

I've racked my brain attempting to help fund Hannington's cause, Parkinson's Si Buko Uganda (the recipient of all donations from this cause upon completion). I have very limited talents.  One thing I can do is shoot baskets.

Could I help Hannington's cause by doing something I love to excess? By creating an all-day challenge testing my fortitude, similar to tests Ugandans with Parkinson's face daily?

What if I can make 5,000 3-point shots within 24-hours? What if I could inspire you to stretch your comfort level, engage with a cause that moves you, or maybe just to do more of what you love? If so, would you be willing to help relieve the suffering of someone in Uganda?

On Thursday, June 13, 2019, I will attempt this 3-point shot challenge across several Dallas, Texas area venues. I'll have counters, rebounders,  and a dude or two with a camera to document. If I shot non-stop for 24 straight hours, I would need to make 208 shots/hour. 

A daunting task 11 years into a Parkinson's diagnosis?

No, a delightful one.
