I am Rafieya Husain your 2016 Miss Universe Guyana Finalist.

Follow my journey to the crown and support my platform as I continue my work on Domestic Violence. I was once a victim of dating violence and by sharing my experience it is my hope to help other teens strive to develop healthy relationships.

My mission is to rebuild a strong foundation of morals for our young people and future generations where domestic violence is replaced with responsible communication and human dignity. Two years ago I founded my own NGO called RIVAH and I have been actively involved in Guyana and the USA.

With your donations, in 2014 we opened a Domestic Abuse Outreach Center on the Essequibo Coast. In 2015, your donations helped us to furnish the Center allowing us to partner with Blossom (NGO) to provide Social Programs in the community.

The theme of this year’s campaign is “Recognize the Signs” and is focused on Teen Dating Abuse. We plan visit several schools in Guyana to talk to students and distribute educational brochures on the do’s and don’ts of dating.

We will also be collaborating with other NGO’s in Guyana to increase the awareness of DV. Other initiatives included a clothing drive in the Virginia USA for DV victims and distribution of “care packages” to victims both in the USA and Guyana.
