Crisis: A family with Special Needs

Meet Rachel!

I have been blessed to meet this wonderful family. Rachel's mother and father adopted her at birth. She loved to run and play soccer. She was full of life. However, when she was eight, fate turned. She began having seizures. After that she slowly started to lose the abilities to sustain life independently. This little girl is very bright and can still remember her days on the soccer field. Even though she can not talk or walk any longer she can express excitement.

For reasons beyond our knowledge her father left her and her mother. We will never be able to understand what kind of stress having to live with someone you love go through this. Unless you have experienced the like. However, due to him leaving, Rachel's mother now has to pay for all the medical bills. Rachel's mother can not afford a nurse on the weekends therefore she fears having to leave her weekend job which paid for most of the bills. She fears that they might become homeless because we know that medical bills to sustain life is extremely expensive.

In order for Rachel to live she needs to have a nurse and full time support. She eats from a tube and needs someone to help her get around.
