AMPUTEE Needs HELP for NEW LEG

$4,490 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 52 people in 32 months
This is my beautiful, strong and COURAGEOUS daughter ... Rachael.  Right after turning 25 this year, Rachael had to face a LIFE changing surgery. Her right leg ( below the knee ) was AMPUTATED. When given the news, days leading up to and day of the surgery, her FAITH in GOD and this decision NEVER diminished. On June 6, 2016 the surgery happened and she was a TRUE CHAMPION. Never shedding a tear and keeping a VERY POSITIVE attitude...Pretty remarkable, huh?
Here's the catch.... our insurance approved the surgery and the cast prosthetic leg.......THANK YOU GOD!! However, now when it is time for Rachael to get her NEW leg, we were informed that the insurance WOULD NOT cover it. As a mother how can you tell that to your daughter?? All she knew was that the surgery was to be done to give her the BEST quality of life and that she would be getting a NEW leg......We are trying to come up with what we can. We have our part that needs to be provided before she can pick up her leg. However with this most recent news, a couple of friends suggested that I set up this gofundme account to help out with any upcoming/ongoing  medical expenses that we will be facing.
Also, if you could PLEASE share this with as many people that you know, I would greatly and sincerely appreciate it:)

Here is the JOURNEY that Rachael has had so far:
Rachael was born with Neurofibromatosis, Type  1. Neurofibromatosis, also known as NF, is a genetically inherited disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on nerves anywhere in the body at any time and may cause other abnormalities.  The tumors may also cause bumps under the skin, colored spots, bone problems, pressure on spinal nerve roots, as well as other neurological problems.  It is a progressive disorder that affects all races, all ethnic groups and both sexes equally.  NF is the single most common genetic disorder of the nervous system, occurring in one in every 2500 to 3000 births.  Despite its frequency, few people are familiar with NF.  There is no cure for this disease/disorder.

Rachael's right leg, mostly below the knee, was consumed by a very large tumor.  After many attempts in trying to stop the growth and/or surgically de-bulking, this tumor was not going anywhere.  In the best interest of her health and the recommendation of her doctors, her leg had to be amputated.  This is going to be a difficult time for her and our family.  We are blessed to have the support system we have from all of  our family and friends.  Rachael is and has been ready for this new "Season" in her life.  She has always struggled with some sort of pain and/or discomfort in her leg. Never complaining but ALWAYS trying to turn a negative into a positive.
She is excited, committed and ready for this journey.

Thank you so much in advance for your support, kindness and generosity.   Our family SINCERELY appreciates everything that has been done and all that could possibly be done. GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Since the last update on the insurance issue, we are still waiting to find out what is going to happen. However, we had a very busy week last week. GREAT NEWS!!! Three local news channels contacted us and wanted to do a story on the struggles we have been facing with the insurance company and also allow Rachael the opportunity to speak about what Thai has been like for her.
We were praying for at least maybe one news channel but THREE??? WE ARE TRULY BLESSED!!
We are still the LEG Rachael should have and are still trying get it before she starts back to CELEBRATION Bible College.
Rachael is OVERWHELMED with all of the support that is being shown throughout our community right now. Starting with the donations that have been made, all of the shares of her story on FACEBOOK and Twitter and our News Media being so caring enough that they would come and share her story.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!! Please keep sharing our story!! We are almost 50% to our goal!!! GOD IS GOOD!!

So here is a brief update .... As always, Rachael is AMAZING! She is healing nicely. Phantom Pains are REAL and she is trying to tolerate them. The insurance company has denied her prosthetic leg ... We are on our second appeal letter to the insurance company. At this point they are saying it is not a "Medical Necessity" . The insurance company has also denied her wheelchair. Not sure how they expect her to get around. We are staying POSITIVE and praying the outcome is in our favor. We are still trying to raise money to help with co-pays and deductables and the possibility of buying her prosthetic our right, if the insurance company doesn't come through for her.
My brave girl needs a prosthetic!

Much needed update ...... I have been so busy taking Rachael back and forth to doctors appointments ... My head is spinning and hasn't stopped!

Rachael's recovery has been amazing! She has been so strong through all of this. Her leg (stump) is still healing and a bit tendor, but looks great. She struggles with "Phantom" pains, but remains POSITIVE. They say the phantom pains will get better over time, she just needs to find a way to distract herself when she feels the pains. My girl is strong and will get through this!
They started the process for her "new" leg (prosthetic leg) last week. She will be casted this week and hopefully they will start building it within the next week or so. The prostetic company has projected her being in her leg walking by the end of August.

We are still trying to raise money to help with medical bills and most importantly, coming up with the co-pays in order to get her prosthetic leg.

I am So sorry you are going through this and will pray for Gods provision. Have you contacted the media? Your local State representatives? How can an insurance company deny these basic things My friend got her lung transplant due to CNN picking up her story. I would definitely expose the insurance company Again I am sorry. Just some ideas. This ticks me off
