Help Us Say Goodbye

Most of our friends and family know that last week we rushed to the Netherlands so my father, Anton, who was dying could meet our daughter Addie who was born in November. We made it just in time and we were able to make his final wish of a family portrait happen, with Addie included, along with him getting to know his last grandchild.

He passed away last night and our family of four need to travel back to the Netherlands for the funeral and to be with our family.

We've had a rough year finances wise - we welcomed Addie into our family and I took a week off work while our daughter was in Neonatal, and another two weeks off work to take care of my wife during her recovery along with numerous days in the first months of Addie being here to help Savannah. We also endured Hurricane Ophelia which cost me another 8 days of work. I have my own business so I do not get paid paternity leave, sick days or for emergency time off work.

We used up the majority of our savings on our trip to the Netherlands last week for Addie to meet my father and because the flights for the funeral are last minute, they are very expensive. Aer Lingus doesn't do bereavement discounts either.

We're asking for some help to get back over to the Netherlands for the funeral, and to help pay for tickets (€850 is the cheapest we could find), travel costs to/from the airport (€150) and our dog minder (€130).

If you feel like you can help out, we'd be very grateful.
