Fund for Paola's academic exchange

My name is Paola Alejandra Maggino Luces, I'm 21 years and I live in Caracas, Venezuela.

Fascinated by robots since childhood, I started studying electronic engineering at the University Simon Bolivar, focusing in automotive automation; how the electronic control has succeeded in introducing technology to the world of transport. Convinced of my interests, I joined Baja SAE student group (Association of Automotive Engineers) in 2014-2015, in which I had the great opportunity to design the electronics of all-terrain car, and compete in Oregon USA with more than 100 universities worldwide, obtaining outstanding participation in the electronics of the car.

After that wonderful experience I applied for a scholarship for academic excellence to complete my final year in Sweden, in the University KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), Stockholm. Simon Bolivar University annually gives awards through scholarships abroad students with record of excellence, on which I qualified with outstanding performance; it consists on having the opportunity to complete the final year of the career at the university, offering full exoneration of tuition study.

My dream of finishing my last academic year at the University of KTH , is limited due to the current economic crisis in my country , affecting foreign exchange earnings . The government agency  that administers foreign exchange is not normally functioning in case of studies abroad. Despite that I am determined to fulfill my dreams. I plan to travel to Sweden in December 2016, however, the Swedish government won't allow me to finish my year there if I don't have a minimum of a monthly amount of 8000 SEK ($ 983.3) to grant me permission to study the whole year, corresponding to academic exchange.

The completion of this exchange trip, means undertake my future, my biggest dream, to work in a company engaged to automated carts, and be part of a project of engineers capable of generating innovation and technology of the highest level. I am a dreamer student, who never gives up, and believes that nothing is impossible if you work with constancy and discipline.

My strength is my motivation to continue every day fighting for this dream of life that is to represent my country and leave a mark on the world with my desire to work every day and learn more about what I love.

Success is like the dawn, there are those who await asleep, while others rise to find it...

Soy Paola Alejandra Maggino Luces, tengo 21 años y vivo en Caracas, Venezuela.

Apasionada por los robots desde niña empecé mis estudios de ingeniería electrónica en la Universidad Simón Bolívar, con un principal enfoque, la automatización automotriz, la forma en que el control electrónico ha logrado tecnificar al mundo del transporte. Convencida de mis intereses, ingresé en la agrupación estudiantil Baja SAE (Asociación de ingenieros automotrices) en el año 2014-2015, en la cual tuve la gran oportunidad de diseñar la electrónica de un carro todoterreno, y competir en Oregon USA con más de 100 universidades del Mundo, obteniendo destacada participación en la electrónica del mismo. 

Luego de esa experiencia maravillosa apliqué a una beca por excelencia académica para  culminar mi último año de carrera en Suecia, en la Universidad KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), en Estocolmo. Trabaje duro para tener calificaciones destacadas ya que anualmente la Universidad Simón Bolívar ofrece reconocimientos por medio de becas al extranjero a estudiantes con aptitudes de excelencia; la misma consta de tener la oportunidad de culminar el último año de la carrera profesional en la universidad de destino, ofreciéndote un cupo con la matrícula de estudio cubierta. 

Mi sueño de culminar mi último año académico en la universidad de KTH, se ve limitado debido a la crisis que vive actualmente mi país, que repercute en la obtención de divisas ya que es por medio de un órgano del estado que actualmente no está funcionando con normalidad para casos de estudios al exterior. A pesar de eso, estoy decidida a cumplir con mis sueños. Planeo viajar a Suecia en diciembre del 2016, sin embargo, el gobierno Sueco me exige contar con un monto mínimo mensual de 8000 SEK (983.3$) para poder otorgarme el permiso de estudio del año que corresponde al intercambio académico. 

La realización de este viaje de intercambio, significa emprender mi futuro a mi más grande sueño, trabajar en una empresa que realice carros de forma automatizada, y yo ser parte de un proyecto de ingenieros capaces de generar innovación y tecnología de más alto nivel. Soy una estudiante soñadora, que nunca se da por vencida, y cree en que nunca falta alguien que te pueda reconocer tus virtudes y ayudarte a emprender eso que tanto anhelas.

 Mi fortaleza es mi motivación por seguir día a día luchando por este sueño de vida que es representar a mi país y dejar una huella en el mundo con mis ganas de trabajar y cada día aprender más de lo que me gusta.  

El éxito es como el amanecer, hay quienes lo esperan dormidos, mientras otros se levantan a encontrarlo…
