Ryan’s Recovery

On Monday night, one of my former students,  Ryan, was involved in an accident that left him severely burned.

Ryan was taken to Children’s Hospital and from there was flown to Johns Hopkins University to be in the care of their burn unit. He has third degree burns covering 44% of his body and the physicians and nurses are currently working on debriding and cleaning the infected areas. Ryan is on breathing and feeding tubes as well as a catheter and is currently heavily sedated. 

Ryan’s mother, Amber, has shared that Ryan will likely be in the hospital until Thanksgiving. During this time, she will be unable to work consistently and will also be going back and forth between Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and her home in Herndon, where Ryan’s four older siblings are. 

I am setting up this fundraiser to support Ryan’s family as he recovers. Any contributions given will go towards gas, groceries, and lodging (Amber will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House when in Baltimore). 

Ryan is an amazing and brave boy and anyone that has been on the receiving end of his sweet smiles and big hugs know just how special he is. We hope to see that smile again really soon. Thank you for your love and prayers for Ryan as he recovers!
