John Robinson's Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Hello, I am Marie Robinson and I am trying to raise money to get treatment for my husband John Robinson who has been battling advance metastatic carcinoid cancer for 8+ years. John has participated in about 16 different clinical trials or off-label use of FDA approved drugs for other types of cancer to see if they would work for him since Jan 2008, but all have failed.

On March 8, 2016 we were told that the latest clinical trial failed. We have been referred to Excel Diagnostics Nuclear Oncology Center in Houston, Texas for a new therapy called LU-177 Dotatate. This drug has proven to stop progression of the cancer in 80% of patients for up to 44 months. He is scheduled for his 1st treatment on April 14th. He will need a total of 4 treatments about 6-9 weeks apart. Treatments are $8000 each, PET scans are $3140 each, there are bone scans, CT scans, oncologist and other cost. Payment for the first 2 treatments must be made in advance of his 1st treatment, in addition to the cost of transportation, meals and lodging while receiving treatment over 1100 miles away from home for the 4 trips in Houston, so we need help to afford these treatments. So far, our insurance company has not said they will cover anything.

John was a hard worker until his illness forced him to take early retirement. We have raised 3 children. He enjoyed playing golf and riding his Goldwing until his illness forced him to give them up. He is a member of St Marks Church in Burlington, NC where he served in several stations. He is a member of the High Point Wings GWRRA motorcycle group and has been an instructor, Chapter Director and District Couple for the state of North Carolina. He loves to sing, has a great sense of humor and loves to make people laugh. He is a loving Christian husband, father, brother, son, grandfather and friend who has helped many friends along the way. He continues to be hopeful for a cure. John is facing months of chemotherapy. Though he is walking in faith, John has many questions and fears about the future, especially how we will continue to finance this costly cancer battle.

We are thankful for anything that you can contribute whether it is thoughts, prayers, money, or all three.  We understand that money is very tight, for everyone. There is strength in numbers, so let us band together to give John his best shot. I know many of you reading this understand the difficulty of watching someone you love suffer. Anything helps, even if you could just share this link and our story. It means more to our family then we can even begin to express.
