Catherine's Breathe Magic Fund

I am Catherine's mum.

Catherine is 19 and has left sided hemiplegia, caused by a brain injury at birth, which affects her hand function and also causes some mobility issues.  We recently found out about the Breathe Magic courses which run for two weeks and provides intensive, fun, therapy which encourages and promotes two handed use.  Breathe Magic only provide this course for children between the ages of 7 and 19, so obviously this is the last chance Catherine will have to take part in it.  We are hoping this will improve not only her hand function, but also her self-confidence and enable her to become more independent.

The cost of the Breathe Magic course is £3,000.  This is just for the two week course and does not include living expenses (the course, at the moment, is expected to take place in London, which is not local to where we live).

Although the course is not due to take place until July, it would be amazing to know that we would be able to take up the offer of the place before then, so that we can concentrate on the other practicalities.

I really think this will help Catherine in so many ways, I can't begin to list them.  She will be able to take more independent living - simple things such as opening packets, preparing food would be easier and less stressful for her.

It will mean so much to us that she is able to take part in this course, as it will be the last time she will be eligible for it.
