Quinn Chapel Restoration Society
Quinn Chapel AME Church is a vital part of Fort Smith history and culture. This beautiful structure was completed in 1917, and unfortunately, due to the financial burden of maintaining an older structure of that size, the small congregation was forced to vacate the premises almost three years ago. Since that time, the building has remained vacant and for sale. Quinn Chapel has multiple needs that could total over half a million dollars.
The purpose of this society, underwritten by THE WORD Inc., is to appeal to private donors to aid in reaching a matching grant goal available through the Arkansas Historical Preservation Society.
The immediate needs are on the exterior: stairway repairs, concrete work, paint and some brickwork. These needs are pressing, due to safety concerns for neighborhood children, and because Quinn resides in the center of the Belle Grove Historic District, which requires that buildings maintain a certain curbside appeal.
All donations are tax-deductible and will go 100% toward the restoration effort, less GoFundMe fees.
