Quality of life for Mel

Donation protected
As some of you may know, my dear friend Mel has MS.

What you may not know is that on the 5th December her body went into shutdown and she fought for her life (she still is), with great dignity and in true Mel style, unwavering positivity.

Mel remained in hospital throughout the Christmas, New Year period finally in recent weeks being able to come home.

She continues lifesaving treatment having to travel to the hospital for 7 sometimes 9 hour days 3 times a week for dialysis and plasma exchange treatment, all the while doing her best as a mother of a 2 year old beautiful girl who is testing what little strength she has left at the moment.

Her supportive husband works 6 days a week to keep their head above water. Myself and a few others help in ways we can making meals, doing housework, looking after their daughter Asher.

She was talking the other day about how she finds it hard to navigate the house with the dark, heavy and bulky furniture in her house and how she wish she could brighten the place up a bit with new furnishing. She had spoken of plans to do this before her body failed her and that now it is not possible in the foreseeable future as their funds are being spent on full time day care for Asher and medical bills among the everday bills.  I asked her what she would do and as she spoke I could see a spark in her that I havent seen in quite some time.

I have set up this fund to see if I can make her dream a reality and raise some money to do an interior makeover on her home.

She is mosty confined the the house apart from travelling to and from the hospital as she is too ill to be out and about, plus with her MS comes mobility issues. She can not wak unaided and only very short distances.

I can't make her better medically but I am hoping I can improve her quality of life by making her happy in her surroundings, including setting up a dialysis room for her where she will sit when she is well enough to do dialysis treatment at home. Some nice lighting, air-conditioning, flowers, candles and soft furnishings is the plan. This throughout the house also.

Mel is not aware I am doing this for her and her family however I know it will put a big smile on her face and make her home feel like her sanctuary. It's the little things. She really needs something to smile about right now.

If you have read this, thank you for reading.

Can you help?

If not do you know someone that can?

Do you or someone you know own a furniture or homewares store that in consultation with Mel (when she finds out) would like to donate?

Any help would be appreciated and if it is not too much to ask, can you please share my post amongst your own friends and family. It only takes a click. As the saying goes "every little bit counts".

Thank you all so much in advance for your kind donations.

With much love and gratitude xx
