Quadruple Bypass recovery fund

$2,755 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 30 people in 2 months
A little less than  a month ago I had to have emergency quadruple bypass surgery.  The recovery time  is long and painful.  6 to 8 weeks before I can go back to work.  As I am self employed I don't have any paid sick leave, vacation or any other thing to make up for the lost income I would be making.  But, of course the bills just keep on coming in - mortgage payments, insurance, gas, food, etc.

I make about $2,500 per month and I'm asking that you donate anything you can to help me get through these two months.  If you can donate anything, I will greatly appreciate it.  If you can't I understand that as well.

I went to cardiac rehabilitation on Friday. I found I've already been doing all the right things at home - walking, stretching and some weight exercise's with my arms. Early last week depression set in. With all that happened I was scared about ever getting over this and about what I would be able to do. Could I every go back to work, etc. My doctor prescribed a depression medication that helped a lot and I'm now thinking more of what I can do and how soon, vs. what I can't do. My chest is still not completely healed, nor my left leg (chest incision to fix the arteries and leg incision to get a vein to use), but both are healing. I'm hoping within the next month they will be completely healed. It's been two months since I left the hospital!! Thank each and every one of you for your generous donation. It has helped cover the bills after not being able to work for two months.

Well, I still haven't been able to get back to work, but I am getting closer. I posted a best to date of 2 miles walking in one day just a few days ago. And I drove to the post office and picked up the mail today (by myself). It was actually kind of scary, but I did fine.

All the bandages on my chest have fallen off and there are a few scabs left, but the chest is feeling better. I'm more worried about my left leg where they grabbed a vein to do one of the bypasses - it still has a big wound in the upper portion where the pulled out the vein.

I've got an appointment with my cardiologist on the 24th. So we'll see what he has to say.

But, you know I am pissed. The doctors tell you it will take 4 to 6 weeks to heal up. That's BS. It takes at least 6 to 8 weeks to fully recover. I will be 8 weeks out of the hospital on Oct 5. I think they just tell you that to keep your spirits up for a few weeks so that you can endure the full time it takes to recover completely.

I slowly getting better. Damn this operation takes a long time to heal. And I've done a couple of stupid things - like lift to much, reach to far, installed a new shower head! Each one set me back and I was miserable the next day. I think I've learned my lesson! Take it very easy until I am completely healed. Had an appointment with my cardiologist and he seems to think I am doing well for how long I've been out of the hospital - which is good news.

And a Very BIG Thank You to all who have donated to my cause. It is heartwarming and humbling to know so many people care.
