Educational Opportunity Center

Tax deductible
Due to severe funding cuts, the EOC needs money to continue classes and to serve students. We help students to gain academic skills to empower them to improve their lives. Dr. Graciela Beecher, a Cuban refugee, began the EOC in 1978. Services offered are tutoring (ESL, GED, & youth afterschool), financial literacy workshops, financial aid filing and scholarship assistance, test preparation (SAT/ACT), career interest assessment, campus visits, and college admittance assistance. Over the years, the EOC has conducted a school desegregation program, a bilingual vocational program, a local public radio program, several film projects, bilingual newsletter and books, foreign language classes, and cultural awareness programs.
