My grandmother is 67 years old and was recently diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in the form of a mass the size of a softball on one kidney. The recommended treatment for the kidney cancer is a pill that had been proven effective against this type of cancer.
The cancer though, has already spread to her lungs creating nodules that need to be surgically removed, and as far as the lungs go, the surgery will be a cure for them if they can get everything out. There is also a possibility that the lungs were not the only place the cancer has spread. The doctors fear that it may have spread to her brain and to know that for sure, my grandmother needs 3 to 4 scans to search for it that can be anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 each.
My grandmother fears that if these treatments, tests, and scans are not covered enough by her medical insurance, we may lose our house. I have no idea how much to ask for or how much it’s possible to even raise seeing is my grandmother is on the older side and there are many others that are in need too, but anything that we can gather would be a significant help.
My grandmother is very important to me. She is taking care of me while I’m going to school and helping me with my own school finances. She has been there for more than another person in my life. She’s the person that tries to be there for everyone and now I’m trying to be there for her. Any help I can get as soon as possible will be extremely appreciated.
