Thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Christine and like everyone, I have goals and dreams, one of these is to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.

The Appalachian trail is a 2,200 mile footpath that is located in the USA, Starting in Georgia and connects through 14 states ending in Maine.
I will embark on this journey of a life time in March 2019.  Hiking for about 5-7 months and carrying everything I need in my back pack.

I have many reasons why I am attempting to thru hike this trail, some of these reasons are;

-  I want to learn more about myself, my strengths, weaknesses and how far I can push myself. I will be walking through snow, sunshine, thunder storms, wind and what ever else mother nature has in store. I will be hot, sweaty, wet, cold and tired. I will be put to the test physically, emotionally and most of all mentally.

-  I want to hike to loose weight, get in shape and become healthier. I have been overweight my entire life. I've been to many nutritionists, had gym memberships and went to classes, tried several diets and programs.  Lost weight but always regained it back. I am fairly healthy and keep active, but I still continue to struggle with weight loss.  This hike will be a great kick start to a life long journey of health and wellness.

-  I want to accomplish something really big, be more adventurous, become more in tune with nature and myself. Leaning what it's like to live with the land, collecting water from a creek or a stream just to have a drink.  Watching the seasons change from winter, spring, summer and fall, learning about each states trees, rocks, plants, flowers and watching wildlife in their natural habitats.

I am not getting any younger and have been dreaming about a long distance hike for a very long time.

Over the past 2 years, I have researched, planned and purchased most of the gear I will need for this adventure.  I will still have some upcoming costs through out my hike.
Some of these include; paying for  transportation on and off the trail, getting a bunk at a hostel, a campsite, or a room in town, doing laundry, buying park permits, new shoes, gear repairs and/or replacements needed and a nice a hot meal in town once in a while.

I appreciate any donations no matter how big or small.  Everything helps from buying a cup of coffee or getting a new  pair of shoes. (I read you go through about 3-4 pairs during a thru hike).

I am planning to record my hike, not sure if that will be through journaling, posting pictures on facebook or video via YouTube or maybe a combination of all three.  If I do, I will add the links here so  you can follow along if you would like.

Thank you all for your help and support. Much love.
