The Unthinkable Happened

After 5 years, Jake Anderson finished his duty in the US Army. He spent the last couple of years of duty in South Korea.  While there, he fell in love.  Jake and Eunyoung came back to America in February and got married.  They returned to South Korea to live.

A week ago Tuesday, while sleeping, Jake was brutally stabbed by individual with untreated mental illness.  He has suffered over 15 stab and slash wounds to: both arms, both legs, abdomen, temple, throat, neck and ear. It is a miracle that no major organs were hit, however major muscles and nerves were damaged. He has had multiple surgeries and is in serious but stable condition.

His mother, Maureen, went to South Korea as soon as she heard and is staying at his bedside, being an active part of his treatment and recovery. It is anticipated that Maureen will stay at least two to three more weeks. His father, Bob, will be heading out at the end of this week and will stay until Jake is physically able to travel home to the United States, in about two to three months. Jake wants to come home.

Jake’s wife, Eunyoung, has shown a devotion surpassing that of such a new marriage.  Eunyoung and her mother, are active in his treatment and recovery; helping anywhere they can.  Their love and support are an integral part of Jake’s healing as well.

This is an unthinkable nightmare that no family should have to endure. The emotional drain is tough enough. We are asking and hoping to ease the financial burden of their travel to South Korea, hotels, food for two to three months on top of all the medical bills. Monetary donations are appreciated via this link. If you are unable to donate monetarily, we understand and ask that you continue prayers and positive support for Jake’s physical and emotional recovery as well as the entire Anderson and Jang families. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all your prayers and support. May God Bless You.
