Steve's Club Louisville

My name is Nicole Harp.  My husband and I are both currently active duty officers stationed at Fort Campbell.  We will be leaving the service this summer and are opening a CrossFit gym in West Louisville.

Break the Mold CrossFit provides CrossFit to adults that love their city and fitness and share our vision of changing the world through fitness and youth impact.  Our youth will be provided CrossFit classes through Steve’s Club, a national non-profit providing free CrossFit to at risk and high risk youth.  Additionally, our gym will have a barbell club four times a week at a reduced cost.  The front of our gym has three rooms we are converting to homework space for the students to use before and after their workouts.  Students will be encouraged to bring a book or homework to study or read following the CrossFit Kids classes.  Studies show that children are more adept to complete homework following exercise.  There is a space in the main room of our gym for childcare.  Our adults will be mentors for our youth.  On Friday nights we will hold sponsored dinners and workouts for our mentors to work out alongside the students.

Break the Mold CrossFit truly believes that lives are changed through physical fitness and proper nutrition.  Additionally, access to both physical fitness and nutrition should not be limited to the environment that a child is raised or an adult lives.  The ability of a student to succeed can be tied to the positive environment that our gym would provide.  Imagine a place where a middle school or high school student can go after school and participate in challenging, heart pounding workouts alongside members of the community.  The police officers, church leaders, teachers, moms and dads and other members of the community serve as positive role models during the most formative years of their lives.

We believe that our partnership with local community advocates and agencies as well as our adult classes partnering as mentors with our youth classes will provide a positive impact on high school graduation rates, college entrance rates, and healthy living that will directly influence the Healthy Louisville 2020 initiative.
All GoFundMe proceeds will directly benefit Steve's Club Louisville to pay for things such as:

-Background Checks for new coaches and mentors
-Apparel and workout shoes for student athletes
-Study materials for the after school program
-Registration expenses for local competitions or adventure races (such as Spartan Race, weightlifting competitions, etc.)
