Conversations About Sex Podcast
What is it?
Was your sex education good enough? Did it prepare you for a healthy, happy and empowered sexual life? Did it teach you about consent, mental health, physical health, gender roles and healthy relationships? Were you encouraged to talk about sex openly and honestly?
Conversations About Sex is a new podcast that critically examines our relationship with sex education, formal and informal, starting from childhood sex ed lessons at school all the way through to our adult sexual experiences. These are real stories from real people, and they reflect a reality that impacts upon us all. Through sharing stories, tears and laughter, these conversations shed new light upon the important and complicated role that sex plays in our lives in an engaging, meaningful and human way. Plus, it turns out that chatting about sex can be pretty hilarious.

Who am I?
My name is Mariella Hudson and I'm a 25-year-old writer and independent broadcaster. After working on this podcast entirely independently for the past two years, I am delighted to finally be able to share it with the world. I am committed to keeping the podcast free for everyone to download and listen to, and I also run an accompanying website that provides free resources for curious listeners or those in need of support. To support this project, I have chosen to work part-time and invest my own money into equipment and the running costs of the website. This has always been a labour of love rather than a means of making money, but any donations will be extremely useful in:
1. First and foremost, paying for a permanent feed on SoundCloud, which only provides three hours of free hosting (so not enough for a podcast)! These come to £7.50 a month ($9.06).
2. Keeping the website going, which has running costs of £6.17 per month ($7.73). The website provides reliable resources on sexual health and education, as well as links to support networks and charities.
3. Paying my soundtrack musician, the incredible In Love With A Ghost, who very generously donated their music to the project. His beautiful work really brings the podcast to life, and I believe everyone should be paid for their labour. If I reach the goal of £1000 on GoFundMe, I will pay In Love With A Ghost a flat fee of £150.
If you would like to support me as an artist and producer, the best way is to donate through Patreon on a monthly basis, for as little as £0.79 a month. Most importantly, however, a Patreon subscription will ensure I can continue to meet my running costs on an ongoing basis, which is my top priority, well before paying myself.* However, I know it's a significant commitment and not everyone is in a position to donate on a monthly basis, which is why I have also opened this fundraiser for one-off donations. I am very grateful for any support you can provide!
* Once I reach $30 a month on Patreon, I will be able to pay In Love With A Ghost 15% of my earnings, with 8% being paid to Patreon, 55% going towards running costs and the remaining 22% paid to me as artistic creator and producer.
