#PushUpHouston: PART 2

Tax deductible
THIS IS PHASE TWO OF #PUSHUPHOUSTON:

OUR AIM IS NOW ON HELPING MAYOR TURNER’S RELIEF FUNDS
I'm honestly speechless. Thank you so much to every single one of you guys who have shared, participated, and donated in the #PushUpHouston challenge. The response and feedback has been truly astounding! Now that the Red Cross fund has reached nearly $2,500, I believe it is in our best interest to begin supporting local organizations as well! That’s why the #PushUpHouston campaign is now aimed at helping out Mayor Slyvester Turner’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund sponsored by the Greater Houston Community Foundation!

The Greater Houston Community Foundation has worked tirelessly for years in helping out after the event of natural disasters such as Tropical Storm Allison in 2001, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and Hurricane Ike in 2008.For more information concerning the great work the organization has done, please check out the following article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/ashleaebeling/2017/08/29/giving-stock-to-the-greater-houston-community-foundation-hurricane-harvey-relief-fund/#66677f405394

As of now, donations to the Red Cross can still be made, but we are now focusing on this second chapter of helping out Harvey victims! Please help me and continue to spread the word!If there are any questions/concerns please reach out to me! Thank you for supporting the cause! #PushUpHouston

As local residents of Houston for over 16 and 17 years—all of our lives, as a matter of fact— we've seen the beauty of what the fourth largest city in the United States has to offer. But, most importantly, in the time that we've come to known the city, we've observed one thing that matters most: the conviction and the utter resilience of the people in this city. And, in this tragic natural disaster that we have come to known as Hurricane Harvey, this observations holds more than ever true.

No matter how many inches of drywall it peels or homes it steals, Harvey will never be able to take down the true monument of Houston: its people.

So, on behalf of our fellow Houstonians and Texans all undergoing the same struggle that is Harvey, we would like to ask for your help — for your help to not only keep us in your prayers, but to take action. That’s why we're starting the #PushUpHouston challenge (taking inspiration from the ALS ice bucket challenge).

The rules are simple:

1) ACCEPT the challenge
2) RECORD yourself doing 5 push-ups (if you can’t do 5 regular push-ups, push-ups on your knees are fine!)
3) NOMINATE three of your friends
4) UPLOAD the video to social media (make sure to include the link to the donation page and to include the hashtag "#pushuphouston")
5) DONATE to help the Harvey relief funds (all proceeds will go to the GHCF)

Together, we hope that we can work together in helping the ones who need it most. Together, we hope that we can push up Houston!

IMPORTANT: If you want to donate a large amount, please do it directly through the Greater Houston Community Foundation website; this GoFundMe is a way for people to be able to donate outside the $10 minimum GHCF enforces and to see how much money the challenge directly raises

Please remember that this is a campaign to spread awareness for the need to donate. Our interest is in the Houston people, not the pushups. So if you feel that other organizations are more effectively fit for what you're looking for, please donate to them! Thank you so much guys and continue to spread the love!
