Big Isle Earthquake Damaged my Home
Donation protected
I fell in love with the lush rainforest and black sand beach of lower Puna in 1991, and by 1997 I "owned" a piece of paradise on which I had built a little off grid yurt. It was a lot of "Blood, Sweat and Tears" hauling water, propane and basically living life in glorified camping mode as my yurt style house/cabin materialized around me. I experienced trials and tribulations, hassles and ripoffs offset by swimming with dolphins and turtles in turquoise waters. I raised my amazing daughter and eventually completed college with student loans, Ugh. The epicenter of the 6.9 earthquake was within 3 miles of my home and caused damage to the roof which I would love to have repaired to keep the integrity of this magical treehouse until I return.
