About Us

Punjab United FC are a Chartered Standard Club and one of the most successful club’s in the area. Over the last 50 years the club have worked their way through several leagues always striving for success but at the same time welcomed and given individuals (both male and female)of all abilities the opportunity and tools to develop and play football at competitive level.

The club is professionally run by an elected committee of volunteers and has a number of kids teams from under 11’s to under 16’s. This is to enable the club to expand its offering to the whole community within the area and ensure the club is sustainable for years to come.

"Creating an opportunity for youth"

Mission Statement

At Punjab United, we are on a mission. Football is a game we have all grown to love and we want everyone to feel the same way about it. It gives members of the club so much and we want to share those virtues with you. We aim to achieve the following:

To promote, foster, develop and support the game of Association Football in every way, without discrimination.
Increase the number of people actively involved in football.
Increase the number and quality of leaders and coaches in the sport.
Establish more opportunities for volunteers and players with the community.
Providing the opportunity for anyone of any age, colour or creed to be able to participate in football from Grass Roots level to Elite level.
Protect the Club’s heritage of promoting the participation of the Asian community in Grass Roots football, with the aim of seeing the integration of British Asians in the upper echelons of the game.

History

Founded in 1966, an auspicious year in the history of English football, Punjab United is approaching its 50th birthday. Created by Tarsem Kandola originally as a group of friends enjoying a game of football on a Sunday morning, the club has been an established name in the Wolverhampton & District Sunday League. We currently operate one adults team and Junior Teams from Under 10s to Under 17s and we have had an eventful history: Played in the Premier Division for many years, culminating in a league cup final appearance at Molineux in the 1970s - famously fielding 10 players with the same surname (Singh) with the only exception being Geoff Edwards, making the national press (Sunday People).

Started additional Sunday league sides in the mid-1970s originally as Bilston College FC and Hatherton Arms. These merged in the early 1980s and became Punjab United Sports, Runners-up in the BP Roberts Cup 2003/4.

Created the Club’s first junior team with an Under 12s team in the Bilston Partnership Youth Football League in 2003.

Various League and Cup Winners at junior level, collaborating with clubs from across the Midlands.

Featured the first girl – Rina Dale - to ever play in the Khalsa Football Federation Tournaments, played at Under 13 age. She is now the Club Welfare Officer.

Working with AFF, "Kick it Out" and The FA on National "Asians in Football" issues.

Created opportunities for junior players to take part in trials at Wolverhampton Wanderers and also Chelsea Football Club.

Birmingham Sunday Vase Winners and Asian UK Community Cup Winners 2013.

Values

Here at Punjab United, we strive to provide equal opportunities for children and adults irrespective of race, religion gender or disability. To help encourage and involve all, we believe that children, parents, volunteers and coaches must all work together and support one another. In return, we ask that members of the club, be they players, coaches or parents, conduct themselves in a manner aligned to our club values, as follows:

Commitment from players

Respect all coaches and volunteers at all times
Respect teammates at all times
Respect opponents and officials at all times
Commitment from coaches/members

Treat all players equally irrespective of ability
Give all players equal opportunities to progress and develop as players and personalities
Set an example when it comes to respecting officials and the laws of the game
Respect colleagues and opposing coaches at all times
Ensure the integrity of the club is never compromised in any situation
Encourage good sportsmanship between players and their teammates and opponents
Commitment from parents

Treat the volunteers who offer their services and time to the club in support of their children with respect at all times

The Club has now been running for 50 years and to ensure we continue to develop opportunities for all, we are looking to raise funds to secure the future of the club.

We look forward to your contribution and support.
