I've created this GoFundMe account for Billy and Tanya (Spurling) Clifford.
I've known Billy for awhile, as most of you also. Billy always brightens our day with his morning posts on Facebook and his amazing pictures of the beautiful wildlife from his favorite spots; Plum Island and the Salisbury Reservation.
Most of you know, Billy never asks for help and is always the first one to lend a helping hand to others.
In August 2008 Billy suffered a major heart attack. His left artery was completely blocked. Once in the hospital Billy had surgery to repair 2 blockages. The doctor told Billy he was lucky to be alive because most people would not have made it through this. Billy went back to work and 2 weeks later, had another heart attack.
From this time on, with Tanya being disabled and taking care of his 17 year old stepson who is disabled as well, Billy continued to work to support his family and relatives. At this time, Tanya was also experiencing medical issues of her own and was in excruciating pain but Billy took care of not only himself, but made sure the love of his life was well taken care of. Also, Billy and Tanya opened their home to take care of another relative who had medical issues, all while both of them were suffering themselves. Billy also developed asthma and emphysema and major problems with his knees during this period that required numerous cortisone shots but he never let anything get him down and continued to go to work daily.
Then in January 2014, Billy had another problem with his heart. The end result was an angioplasty. Despite doctor recommendations, Billy went back to work. He had a family to take care of and Billy loved his job and wanted to make sure his family was taken care of.
Just this past February, Billy started experiencing signs of a heart attack and was able to get to the hospital in time by the luck of God. After spending 2 days at Anna Jacques, Billy was rushed to Beth Israel hospital where he received another surgery due to a spasm in his right artery.
Billy has been told that he cannot go back to work if he wants to continue to live. He truly is lucky to be alive. Unfortunately, due to an error on the part of his medical insurance company, Billy has had to absorb the cost of the most recent surgery and subsequent visits and medication out-of-pocket. Billy has not yet been approved for disability, his insurance company is denying their error, and now being out of work, Billy is incurring debt that may cause him and Tanya to lose their home.
I'm asking all of you to donate whatever you can so that Billy and Tanya do not lose the home. Pay if forward is my motto because there have been many times that I've needed help myself and have had some angels intervene for me. Billy is upset that I am putting this GoFundMe request together because he is proud and does not like to receive handouts. Too bad! As you all know, Billy would be the first person to give you the last dollar he has so it is my hope that we can show Billy, and Tanya, how much we are there for them.
