PSHS-EVC Class of 2009 Scholarship Fund

Hello everyone,
Today, I turn 26. I am another year older, wiser and especially more grateful. I was never the kid who grew up throwing huge parties during my birthday, and I don't care much for fuss. While today won't be any different, mostly spending it with my family and closest friends, I am reaching out to you neither for greetings nor gifts. Instead, I am asking for help to raise $2,600 for the scholarship fund my alumni class is putting together as part of our homecoming for my high school: the Philippine Science High School, Eastern Visayas.
Ten years ago, I graduated from this small public science high school in the humble Palo town with little idea of what the bigger world had in store for me. Today, I look back at all the exciting things that happened in my life: getting the best education the world has to offer at MIT, seeing different cultures and experiencing diversity in more than three dozen countries and simply becoming an entrepreneur, embracing risks and failure as lessons for growth. All thanks to the formative years I spent in Pisay.
I am helping raise money for this scholarship fund because it's now my time to pay it forward. I wasn't raised in a privileged home; I am a first generation college graduate. I am a product of scholarship funds, of generous people who believed purely in my potential to succeed. Let's build more success stories of talented young kids, those who are gonna shape our future.
Any amount goes a long way. I am humbled and grateful for your help.
Sincerely,
Francis
