Hello to Everyone that knows the difficulty of losing a limb
Bob Bryce, Very good friend has been through a lot in the past few years, it all started with a wound on his right leg, he was diagnosed with acute limb ischemia. After a lack of any pulses in the foot and history of a vascular bypass he was sent to the operating room in late fall of 2016 for an embolectomy. The operation had complications. After a few days and with increased pain and swelling he was taken back to OR for fasciotomies to release pressure. Along with blood thinners and the artificial artery Bob was able to get back to a normal working life.
Early spring 2017, Bob went to work and early morning started developing extreme pain and dizziness, he was rushed to UMass Medical Center. Within 18 hours he had his leg amputated below the knee. After recovering he was moved to a rehab center. After 5 days at rehab he started having complications again. He was rushed back to Umass where they did another amputation above the knee. He went through two amputations on the same leg in two weeks.
Bob has spent the past few months dealing with the healing pain, and then dealing with the phantom pain. He has certainly had a tuff beginning of 2017 and just wants to get back to normality and back to work.
He was just fitted with a prosthetic leg and was totally shocked at the cost of his new leg. Bob just wants to get back to his life and can’t afford the many thousands of dollars it will cost. We are just starting to figure out how he will drive again.
Some friends and family have reached out asking how they can help Bob, so I thought a “help fund me” site could help him financially be able to pay for his new leg. Bob’s road ahead is long and very expensive. Help support a hard worker and a friend with any donation possible.
