The Prosper Community Theatre kicked off its cause in January of 2018. Its mission is to bring live performance art to Prosper and the surrounding communities in North Texas. It currently comprises of a youth program for ages 6-18 and has a membership base of almost 50 kids!

With a low membership fee of only $50 for the entire year, each youth member is able to attend twice a month workshops that expose them to a wide range of topics, such as improvisation, special effects makeup, technical theater (lights and sounds), and so much more!

As well, 4 productions are planned for 2018. Each member is invited to audition for a part or to be in the production as a technical crew member or student direct or stage manager.

However, because of the low cost of membership, getting the theatre setup with props, costumes, rehearsal space, performance space, licensing, and so much more is a massive hurdle that we simply cannot jump over ourselves. We are reaching out to the North Texas community as well as the Arts community to try and help us raise the necessary funds so that we can accommodate all the plans we have.

Some of the future growth we have planned are:

1) Starting a youth improv team
2) Performing at local library story times
3) Scholarship program for members who want to join but can't afford the $50 membership fee
4) Growing the adult theater program in 2019
5) Securing a storage space for future costumes/props
6) Sound equipment (microphones, speakers, etc.)
7) Portable lighting
8) Performing at area nursing homes and rehabilitation centers

We have SO much planned, and our growth has already shot up as we have almost 50 members that have joined us in only a few months! So the need is absolutely there and we are EXCITED to see where PCT can go!

In a new push, I'm asking everyone to give a High $5 to our community theatre group!

So, can we get a High $5 chain going around?

What can $5 do, you might ask?

Well, it can:
1) Buy a tall drink at Starbucks
2) Go half-sies on a pizza
3) Let you rent a movie at home, since movie tickets are more expensive than $5
4) Impact the Prosper Community Theatre by allowing it to purchase much needed costumes, supplies, and so much more!

Can we get a High $5 chain going?

Pass this around, and let's see how many people can keep this going. If we can get to 1000 High $5s, we will obliterate our goal!

We have a start so far!

I'm going to issue out a challenge. It's the $5 challenge.

Can you give a "high-five" for arts? If we can get some "high-fives" from everybody, we can destroy this challenge.

You might be asking, what is all of this money going towards?

Well, firstly, we have a murder mystery dinner theatre coming up on Friday, April 13th. We have tickets available for that on our website (prospercommunitytheatre.com) but we need to buy props, pay deposits, and lots of other expenses before it happens. So a good portion of this money is going to pay those expenses.

Other expenses are getting the license for our first show in July, which will cost almost $1000! So we need to put a deposit down on it and then pay to get the books and music needed for it.

Additionally, I am wanting to setup a scholarship fund for youth that want to join our program but can't afford the $50 joining fee.

So, can you give a "high-five" to our program? Can we pass it around? Let's see what happens!

The costs with running a theatre can add up quickly. For instance, take a look at some of the costs that PCT has to consider:

* $1500 for 1 weekend production space
* $1000 for a license to perform a show
* $1000 for props/costumes/makeup

Now, take those first 2 and take it times 4, and you can quickly see that the costs add up FAST!

PCT is here to provide an opportunity for our members to participate in live theatre in all aspects, from acting to music to dancing to directing to writing and so much more! Most of our members are in middle school, where they are exposed to theatre but due to the limitations of budgets and such, they are left craving more. That is where PCT comes in and helps!

We would love to provide the opportunity for all of our youth to become members, but due to rental space for meetings and everything, it makes it extremely difficult to do everything that we want to do. Even though it's only $50 for a year, that cost can add up for a family that wants all their children to participate.

Each member gets a t-shirt, discounts on advanced level classes, camaraderie, community events, state events, and such much more. The membership fee tries to offset some of that, but as with 50 members, it can get quite expensive.

Anything and everything is appreciated! We want PCT to continue growing, well beyond what we can imagine. Only with your help can we reach the stars!
