Let’s face it, there are a lot of us that want to go to North Dakota and Stand with Standing Rock and others, but things like health, family obligations, and keeping the bills paid get in the way. So our next best option is to support them surviving the harsh Dakota winter with donations and supplies.
My name is Sam Flippo, and I work for the University of Virginia. Three of our students are at Standing Rock in person, and the University’s original founding in activism makes it no stranger to the tasks necessary to prove a point. The University gives all of its staff members 16 hours a year to do charity and volunteer work in lieu of regular work hours, and I want to use my hours, skills, and personal network connections to coordinate getting propane fuel and coffee to the camp.
Here’s where this becomes a team effort:
Through wholesaler Worthington Propane, if we raise $1,782.00 then we can provide 1,500 pounds of propane. And wholesaler Java Cabana has agreed to sell coffee bricks for $3.00 a brick and deliver it if we purchase a pallet’s worth, which is ________ bricks.
