Americon Project Powell
We are pleased to announce the details of a project we have been working on as we prepare for our upcoming convention. Project Powell focuses on Leonard Powell, Mr. Powell is a 75 year old Army veteran who is being displaced from his home by the city of Berkeley CA due to his falling behind on maintenance compliance issues. Mr. Powell has owned his house for over 40 years, he's had grandchildren born there and it saw the passing of his late wife. Recently the city stopped by for an inspection, and discovered certain maintenance items to be non compliant. Bottom line was if the house wasn't brought up to code then he'd be evicted. Mr. Powell's situation was brought to the attention of Americon Freedom Forward and a three part plan was devised:
1. Moving Mr. Powell to temporarily live with family nearby.
2. Repairing his home to bring it back into compliance.
3. Move Mr. Powell back in.
