Project Kuchengetedza Zviwanikwa

Project Kuchengetedza Zviwanikwa (PKZ) is dedicated to the  preservation of people, animals, and the environment in the Save Valley Conservancy Area of Zimbabwe.

PKZ is committed to improving the health and well being of people in the rural  communities by 
       -  establishing a medical clinic.
       -  increasing access to water.
       -  providing funding for micro-finance initiatives.

 All people deserve access to medical care.
People of Humani  walk more than 11 miles to Chibuwe-- crossing a crocodile infested river-- to reach the nearest basic clinic.  Those outside of Humani walk even further, as much as 30 miles.    From Chibuwe it is a staggering 75 miles to the nearest hospital facility in Chiredzi.  

Water is a critical need in the Save Valley. 
Years of drought have dried up the surface water.  As many as 700 people will rely on one community borehole.  New boreholes are necessary to sustain life and provide water for drinking, cooking, bathing, cleaning, and for gardens and animals.   Women and children spend an extraordinary amount of time gathering water.  New boreholes are needed to increase the water available.  The distribution of devices such as the Hippo Water Roller  (www.hipporoller.org)  will reduce the time necessary to gather this essential basic need. 

90% unemployment exists.
Micro finance projects will allow villagers to provide income for their families enabling them to buy food, pay their child's school fees, provide clothing, and other basic needs.  PKZ is committed to community development and sustainability.
