Belle Dame Sans Merci is a metaphysical nourish thriller with detectives, dangerous dames, murder, mystery, sex, and mayhem, with perhaps the most problematic of all, Death herself. Hard-boiled Detective Dan Lovelace must solve the murder of a colleague in a corrupt city. His only clues are a beautiful femme fatale and the unusual sighting of a ghostly woman at the scene of the crime. This show contains adult language and situations, as well as poetry by John Keats.
Hello, my name is Nicholas Salyer and I am a producer at YER Productions. I love live theatre! I have been working at it most of my life and love to share theatre with others. We are producing an important stage play project called BELLE DAME SANS MERCI by Michael Fenlason, to be performed in Poughkeepsie's own venue the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center Theater located at 12 Vassar St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 during the Summer of 2017.

1. If you're a fan of John Keats, you'll recognize his poetry mixed in with the murder and mayhem. The play should sound familiar since it's from the famous Keats poem of a similar title.
"It's sort of an overall metaphor for what's happening in the show," Fenlason said of the poem.
2. The main character, Detective Dan Lovelace, is reminiscent of Bogart.
"He's in a relationship with a very nice lady, but like in those Humphrey Bogart movies a lot of beautiful woman come up to him and say inappropriate things," Fenlason said. "He's not a good guy; he's sort of an existential hero."
3. "Belle" has snappy dialogue with creepy characters.
"There is some fantastic word play. It is a very creepy play; in parts, some of the people are really bad," Fenlason said.
Belle Dame Sans Merci by master playwright Michael Fenlason crafts a thrilling web of uncompromising fate. Detective Lovelace is hot on the trail of the femme fatale, Tierney suspected of murdering his fellow detective Perez.
Michael Fenlason is Artistic Director of Strada Company in Tucson. His plays have been performed in London, Edinburgh (Scotland, UK), Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Tucson, San Francisco, and San Diego. He has directed and performed in London, Edinburgh, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, New York, San Diego. Michael won Arizona Theatre Company’s (LORT B) Arizona Playwriting Award and was honored by the American Association of Community Theatres for “far-reaching special contribution” to theatre. Formerly, an associate of Field, a New York-based performance company that fosters innovation and works to develop new artists and art, Michael was also the Artistic Director of The Unlikely Theater Company in Phoenix Arizona from 1989 to 2000 and at Beowulf Alley Theatre in Tucson from 2011 to 2013. Michael recently finished a web series film cycle American Noise, will be publishing a new arts related magazine Jink in November of 2016, and performed recently at the Tucson Fringe Festival his original show, My Muse is a Woman Who Hates Me. His live performance of American Noise was featured in Contemporary Performance Almanac in May 2016. His new play, Naked, won the Best Writing Award at the San Diego International Fringe Festival in 2016 at The Diversionary Theatre . His new musical, Danielle Inferno, will premiere at The Screening Room in Tucson, Arizona, in January of 2017.
