Preserve "Old Hollywood" Memories

Donation protected
Do you love hollywood history? Do you think preserving the first hand stories of those who were there is important? If so, then please help me publish my mother's candid memoir.

My mom is Nancy Bacon, a former columnist who had relationships with the likes of Paul Newman, Errol Flynn, Tommy Smothers, Rod Taylor, Vince Edwards, and Hugh O’Brien, and flirtations and friendships with Jack and Bobby Kennedy, Sharon Tate, Elizabeth Taylor, Duke Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Judy Garland and Sean Connery. A young and gorgeous pinup model and starlet before she became a writer, Nancy dove right into the kinds of parties found only in the glittering and glamorous playgrounds of Beverly Hills and Hollywood – and beyond.

She was close friends with Jay Sebring, one of the Manson Family murder victims, and she went on to interview several members of The Family – many little-known details are revealed in these shocking, unvarnished memoirs. What’s more, she caroused with The Rat Pack in Las Vegas when she was an underage runaway, and saw the best of France and London – partying with the likes of King Farouk and Orson Welles – before she returned to Hollywood and married a famous rock guitarist, Don Wilson, founder of The Ventures, the #1 instrumental group in the world.

But she lost it all when she was stricken with breast cancer and alcoholism... her book isn't just fluff, it's the inspirational story of how a divorced mom came back from the brink of ruin.

I am Nancy's daughter, Staci Layne Wilson, and I am going to help her write an extensive Afterword to the memoir (because Mom has suffered a stroke and cannot type anymore) which will bookend the story from her humble beginnings as one of nine children growing up on a farm in Washington State in the 1940s, and what happened after all the fun and games in Hollywood were over – she went through divorce, alcoholism, and a botched radical double mastectomy in the 1970s… and she overcame it all. Her life is one of stunning extremes.

Her book is intended for the readership of candid, no-holds barred memoirs with explosive revelations. It shares similarities to The Kid Stays in the Picture (Robert Evans), You’ll Never Eat Lunch in This Town Again (by Julia Phillips), Shirley Jones: A Memoir, Watch Me: A Memoir (by Anjelica Huston), and I’m With the Band (by Pamela Des Barres). It will appeal to anyone who is interested in vintage Hollywood, The Manson Family, celebrity gossip and detailed descriptions of where and how the stars played in the old days. Many of her stories and photos have never been published - with the love of everything "vintage" these days, it's important we preserve these stories and images before those who lived through the times are gone.

With 5,000 Facebook friends, family members and followers and freely sharing music love, history, culture and more from my heart -- it's time to ask for your help beyond the "likes" (though those are appreciated!). Even though it's a DIY world in publishing these days, there are still costs associated with producing, packaging and especially promoting. Since Mom's stroke has prevented her from being able to work, she doesn't have the funds to do this on her own. I'm spending hours, days, weeks, months, etc., on getting the book published.

Donations will be used for professional book packaging, scanning of vintage photographs, Facebook ad campaigns, Amazon marketing, and the like.

It's really important to her. Even a few dollars will help.

Thank you!
