On August 1st my sister took my 8 year old nephew, Ryan, to his doctor for headaches and vomiting that were happening on and off for about 4 weeks. Ryan’s doctor informed my sister that she needed to take Ryan to Golisano Children’s Hospital and that she would call ahead and let them know he was coming. Next thing you know Ryan is getting CT scan a doctor comes in and tells my sister that Ryan has a mass on the back of his brain.
How could a healthy, active, spunky, innocent 8 year old boy have a mass on his brain?! After MRIs and lab work doctors informed my sister and brother in law that Ryan needed emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor because he had too much pressure on his brain. Over 8 hours in surgery, another MRI and he was moved to ICU. From there he was having trouble breathing due to fluid on his lungs. Ryan had another set back last night when all of the machines started going off in his room. He needed an emergency surgery in his room in order to put a shunt in because of pressure. My sister, brother in law and niece have been by his side everyday and we all just want him home. We are taking one day at a time and we know Ryan is a fighter and refuses to let anything get him down. I’m sure he is having awesome dreams about getting out and playing Fortnite! Ryan has been sedated, so he can get all the rest he needs for this long road. My kids want not only their cousin back home, but their best friend.
I am asking for your help, even if it’s $1. Every little bit helps with his medical bills that will be coming soon. WE ARE RYAN STRONG!
