Joey's Fight

Donation protected
My name is Lyndsay and I'm one of Joey's sisters. There are four of us (Heather, me, Amberly, and Joey). I'm trying to help raise money to help my parents (Jimmy and Jen) as they stay by Joey's side during this difficult time.

Joey is a fifteen year old young man who loves to play sports and is interested in joining the military upon high school graduation. A healthy, happy teenager until this past Wednesday.

On Wednesday, May 11, our world came crashing down. Jen took Joey to the doctor after he had been vomiting and complaining of a headache. His PCP sent them over to our local ER. After getting the results from the CT scan, Joey was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite because he had a significant bleed on the brain. He was taken into surgery shortly after arriving at CHOA to put a drain in his head to drain the blood off. He is currently in the PICU intubated.

The lateat update comes from my dad and reads as follows: "The neurosurgeon just came in; they are going to completely paralyze Joseph. They aren't going to allow visiting until there is a drastic turn around.
Everyone is welcome to come up and sit with us in the PICU waiting room, but Joseph has to be left in the dark and silence.
His brain is continuing to swell. No one knows why. They can't find the bleeder. The fluid they are draining continues to contain blood. By paralyzing him they hope to give his brain more rest. He is fighting the meds they have been giving him. He tries to breathe over the ventilator and they have him tied down. There are 7 different meds going in him and he still fought off 6 nurses."

While Joey is fighting, our parents are staying by his side. I'm wanting to help raise money to:
A) Help cover medical expenses that aren't covered by their private insurance
B) Help cover their bills at home. Jen works full time and is currently missing work to be with her baby boy.

Each and every donation is very much appreciated. If you can't donate, we completely understand.

We just really want to make sure that Joey doesn't have to be without my parents by his side during this time and that they are able to get him the treatments he will need after he wakes up. Whatever money isn't used will be donated to CHOA.

If you made it this far, thank you. Please remember Joey and our family in your prayers. #prayforjoey
