Prayers for Poe

To everyone who knows or has met Poe, knows that he's never wanted to do anything but make people smile, and give an abundance of kisses. 

Edgar Allen "Poe" just turned one year old this past june. This past tuesday he was schedule for his neuter. A few hours after, we recieved a call that Poe had suffered Cardiac arrest in the last few moments of surgey. This poor little fellow's heart stopped for a total of 8 minutes before being revived. Upon being revived, Poe suffered dramatic swelling to the brain and possibly numerous seizures. Poe was quickly transfered to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital where we met him and our vet. 

Words can't describe that kind of heartache we felt watching our "Poe-bear" go from a Happy-go-lucky little puppy tuesday morning, to a half-conscious, crying and seizing mess on the emergency table mere hours later. Not wanting to give up one our most loyal best-friend, we made the choice to admit him to the Hospital under intensive care and observation. 

The cost to fight for Poe, is estimate to be between $2,200 - $3,700 per 24 hour period depending on the type of medicines and care needed. Obviously, we took on this battle without a single hesitation.  
At this point, we are 40 hours in to this fight and Poe has went from zero signs of brain function, and heavy sedation to taking his first sips of water and food on hisown. We have no intentions of giving up on him. The hospital staff expressed some doubts last night, but from his progress today have confidently changed their opinions and believe Poe could make a great recovery with the right care and enough time.
We made the choice to fight for Poe. To not give up on our best friend because we know he would never give up on us. ever. Based on the improvements he has made, we could not be more proud of him and are overwhelmed at how strong he is for fighting through this.

For those who have said prayers for Poe, we are extremely thankful. The signs we are seeing, look to be signs that our prayers are being heard. We would like to thank anyone and everyone for their support. This spirited puppy has such an incredible life to live and we will go to great lengths to make sure he gets everything he deserves.
