POW/MIA Recognition Day Walk 2018

POW MIA Recognition Day for 2018 is September 21. As a tribute to those who have not made it home due to being captured (Prisoners Of War) or considered missing (Missing In Action), I am walking approximately 9 miles to the Tallahassee National cemetery to attend the local POW MIA Recognition Day ceremony at 8PM.
I will be carrying a POW MIA flag the entire route, rain or shine. My route starts near Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park at the north bound side intersection of Thomasville Road and Killarney Way at 4:45PM, south down Capital Circle NE/319 to Conner Blvd, and finally down Apalachee Pwky to the cemetery. Keeping pace, I should arrive at approximately 7:45PM.
I have chosen to walk on the behalf of Vietnam Veterans of America, Big Bend Chapter 96. Why VVA 96? Vietnam Veterans are perhaps the most underappreciated group of Veterans. They fought an unpopular war and returned home, not to welcoming arms.
All donations received will go directly to VVA 96 (minus any fees taken by GoFundMe and or PayPal). If a donation is not possible, I ask that you take an evening to see the ceremony yourself. The Tallahassee National cemetery is located at 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Fl 32311 and the evening begins at 8PM. This is a family friendly event however, be aware there is a gun salute and it may frighten small children or anyone sensitive to abrupt loud noises.
My walk and activities are not sanctioned by the Veterans Administration, Tallahassee National cemetery, or Vietnam Veterans of America, Big Bend Chapter 96. I occasionally take long walks on days of significance, and this is one of those days.
I will be working directly with the president of VVA 96 to ensure all donation are recorded, transferred and accounted for. Due to the spur of the moment nature of this GoFundMe campaign and VVA 96 not being listed on the PayPal Giving Fund, I have chosen to accept donations directly and then transfer to VVA 96 as either cash or PayPal transfer (more likely).
VVA 96 is a 501 IRS designated tax exempt organization and can provide your accountant with any documentation you need.
