My name is Brooke and these are my parents. Not too long ago, the residents of Texas went through Hurricane Harvey, its disaster leaving many in hardship. Although we still have a home to live in, we are going through a different kind of hardship.
My father had the symptoms of a heart attack in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. It was bad enough he had to be taken to the ER, and one early morning my mother had rushed him there as fast as she could have. After stressful, emotional days during his stay in the hospital of Memorial Hermann, we as a family of five had to discover he needed a triple bypass. There were clogs in his arteries and the surgeons needed to put in stints to help his heart pump blood through his system. And we believed the operation to be a success.
The first time.
However, as it turned out, after my father had come home in an effort to recuperate after the near two weeks he spent in the hospital... He began to have actual heart attacks. And upon returning to the ER once more for more than just symptoms, it had been discovered that his stints had failed. His heart had rejected them; and what occurred was the surgeons of his first operation had failed to look deep enough to see he had damaged arteries.
And so, we had to go through the entire process all over again on a much more serious level than we could have possibly imagined before. It was truly proved sucessful the second time, and he is back home with us again after a long and repeated process. But my family is in deeper debt than we would have been in before because of a mistake made. My mother and myself are the only ones working, and my father is unable to because his body is in such a shock. It's a struggle to get back on our feet.
Truly, any amount anyone can give is appreciated because it would help us pay off bills, and along the way support ourselves in the place we live while my father is recovering in more ways than one. Despite our struggles, we do not need the funds right away at this time, but I truly do thank all of you who have taken the time to read through this or even donate.
