Le 1 mai, Olivier a fait un arrêt cardiaque post-intubation dû à une détresse respiratoire, une pneumonie sévère causé par le streptocoque du groupe A. Il a manqué d'oxygène et présente des atteintes importantes au niveau de la mobilité ( quadriparésie spastique) et de la vue ( cécité corticale). Considérant son jeune âge, les spécialistes ne peuvent se prononcer sur les atteintes possibles aux niveaux langagier et cognitif. Il a également un trouble de la déglutition ( difficulté à avaler) et une atteinte de l'activité cérébrale.

Avant cet événement, Olivier était un garçon plein de vie. Que ce soit assis ou debout, avec lui, il fallait que ça bouge ! Il aimait jouer, rire, danser et donner des câlins. Olivier était un petit bonhomme avec un fort caractère et il continue à nous le démontrer en se battant depuis le 1 mai.

Des professionnels de la santé nous ont parlés des bienfaits de l'oxygéno-thérapie. Ce traitement consiste à envoyer une concentration d'oxygène rapidement et en profondeur dans le cerveau afin de créer de nouvelles cellules. Nous croyons fortement que ce traitement permettra d'améliorer sa qualité de vie et de l'aider dans sa réadaptation.

La levée de fonds nous aidera à financer un programme de traitement en Oxygéno-thérapie hyperbare. Notre objectif d'amasser $ 25,000.00 donnera à Olivier quatre traitements de 40 jours.

Two months ago our son Olivier was a charming, handsome and lively boy. Whether sitting, standing or running around he was always on the move. He liked to play, laugh, dance and give hugs. But on May 1st, that all changed, Olivier had a fever and we took him to the hospital. He went into cardiac arrest post-intubation due to a respiratory distress, a severe pneumonia caused by group A streptococcus.

The medical staff informed us that he is suffering from a medical condition that has significantly damaged his brain resulting in severe impact to his mobility (spastic quadriparesis), his sight (cortical blindness) and his swallowing capacity .

But Olivier is a fighter, a little man with a strong character. Today he is still fighting and although he has not regained his sight yet, he continues to make significant improvements beyond beliefs.

However, considering his young age, the medical professionals have warned us on possible breaches in language, and cognitive development.

Recently, health professionals have spoken to us of the benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. By providing extra oxygen naturally and with minimal side effects, hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves the quality of life of patients in similar condition as Olivier.

We strongly believe that the hyperbaric chamber will improve his quality of life and help in his rehabilitation, however this medical procedure is not approved by medical insurance. As the expenses of treatment are now beyond our reach, we appeal for concession from your part.
