POPs Seussical Community Day

POPs (Puttin' On Productions) is a non-profit musical theater company based in Manhattan Beach, CA. Our mission is to train and educate students in all aspects of theater, while cultivating an atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork, passion, focus and self-confidence. Our goal is to aid in the development of life skills that will inspire our students to become exemplary artists, patrons, leaders and champions of the arts.
POPs hosts different events throughout the year which includes and serves at-risk, underserved, and special needs children. This summer, POPs is producing Seussical The Musical. To begin the show run, we host a community day where we invite at-risk youth from all over Los Angeles county to experience the magic of theater. We provide transportation, concessions, performance tickets, and conclude our day with a talk-back / Q&A with the actors on stage. The actors on stage are children also (ages 8-18), so the kids in the audience and on stage are the same age! The experience for all involved introduces the possibilities of what the arts can provide.
This year we have identified 1100 children who want to come to our community day performance. We have raised funds to accommodate 500 of these children, but need your help in supporting the costs for the rest of these children. These kids are coming from local Boys & Girls Clubs, teen centers, and youth organizations in an around Los Angeles. Our goal is to raise enough money to make this possible for all of these children to attend and to support these programs in the future.
Through the support of an angel sponsor, we have the opportunity to secure $10,000 of funding if we can raise a matching $10,000 donation total. We hope to raise this amount with your help!! If we surpass this amount, then the additional money will go to help support our program.
