Artists For Political Sanity

Mission Statement:
As artists the primary function of our work is to communicate. In an election cycle where communication has broken down to baseness and a complete denial of facts, reality seems to be hanging in the balance. It is our responsibility as artists and citizens to communicate to our fellow citizens that reality is at stake. A Trump presidency would mean many things, isolationism, a restriction of the freedom of speech, dangerous disregard of the rights of people living not only in this country, but on this planet. Each of the artists participating in Artists for Political Sanity has created a poster to address these and other issues. Our mission is to encourage people to vote, and ultimately to prevent a Trump presidency from ever becoming a shared reality.

For the safety and freedom of all Americans, we aim to prevent a Trump presidency and are using our artistic skills toward that goal.  To convey our message, we need your help.  Every donation counts, and 100% of all funds raised goes directly to printing and distributing our posters.  Your support is vital to our mission and most deeply appreciated. Press Release:
While artists tend to draw inspiration from their own experiences and create their work in private settings, we are sensitive to social, cultural, and political temperaments and sometimes feel the need to communicate to a wide audience in an urgent way.  These are exceptional times, and we now feel the need for such urgent communication.

ARTISTS FOR POLITICAL SANITY is a group of artists who have banded together to generate a politically motivated project.  Because we, as artists and as a nation, CANNOT let Donald Trump become president of the United States, we have made a series of paintings, drawings, and collages, many of which incorporate text, to convey why every vote matters, and to urge everyone to vote. The artworks vary in style and media but are unified in their message and goal.

Our overarching message is that we would all be affected by a Trump presidency. Our topics include Trump's proposed anti-immigration legislation, Trump's homophobia, Trump's ignorant and hateful speech about Latinos and Muslims, Trump's misunderstanding of the Second Amendment, Trump's racism, Trump's utter disregard and disrespect for diplomacy, etc.

Our overarching goal is to encourage people to VOTE, and especially encourage Americans who speak languages other than English to VOTE.  A dignified set of images and text aims to convey this message to as many people as possible nationwide.

The posters will be printed and posted around New York City in early October and subsequently be distributed nationally. We are working with college democratic groups and other organizations to ensure broad and timely distribution. These groups in different states across the country, especially red and swing states, will be able to receive pre-printed packages of our posters and/or print the files directly from their own computers to post in their home states. Files of the artwork will be also available for digital distribution on our website. Most states' voter registration deadlines are in mid-October and the poster campaigns will be targeted to these deadlines. Our campaign will extend right up to Election Day.
