P-Nats St. Baldrick's Jude Oz Drive

Donation protected
The Potomac Nationals and Talk Nats blog are proud to announce that the P-Nats will host Jayson Werth’s biggest fan, Jude Oz at Pfitzner Stadium on Thursday, June 22nd for Jude Oz Night on the evening of the P-Nats’ game against the Carolina Mudcats (Milwaukee Brewers).

In conjunction with Talk Nats, the P-Nats have arranged for Jude to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the P-Nats take on the Mudcats, and for Jude and her family to receive an all-inclusive VIP experience at Pfitzner Stadium.

Jude Ozaluk, better known as “Jude Oz,” made headlines and captured the hearts of Washington Nationals fans over the past two seasons. Even though Oz and her family live in Colorado, Jude’s love for Jayson Werth stretches over nine states and 1,500 miles.

Jude, an avid softball player, has earned the reputation of serving as the number one fan of Washington Nationals Left Fielder, Jayson Werth. The eight-year-old has become a staple at Nationals vs. Rockies games at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, and last season, she was caught on camera in shock as her hero was hit with a pitch by a Colorado pitcher, and video and still photos of her reaction went viral all over the world.

When Oz and Werth met again this season during Washington’s early season trip out west to Colorado, Oz actually handed Werth an autographed picture of her classic reaction. Werth responded by throwing her a baseball after making the final out of an inning.

Jude has used her popularity among Nationals fans and warm heart to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation set up a donation page for Jude, and Jude pledged that if she met her goal to raise $750, she would shave her head. The Nats’ community banded together and raised over $12,000 for Jude’s cause. One of her largest donations came from none other than Jayson Werth, himself, who donated over $500.

Now, to honor her commitment to helping others, Jude is finally getting a chance to see Werth in Washington, D.C. at Nationals Park for the first time! Jude and her family will fly in to D.C. to attend the 2017 Washington Celebrity Baseball Camp by DC Elite Baseball at Georgetown University on Saturday, June 24th co-sponsored by Talk Nats featuring Washington Nationals phenom, Shortstop, Trea Turner, and to attend her first-ever Washington Nationals game at Nationals Park to cross paths with her friend, Jayson Werth.

Talk Nats set up a GoFundMe Page to bring the Oz family to Washington and easily surpassed their goal of $2,200 to fully fund the Oz Family’s trip to our nation’s capital.

Before she stops at Nats Park, Jude will be at The Pfitz on June 22nd for her own special night!

The P-Nats will provide transportation for the entire Oz Family on Jude Oz Night while the entire family will receive a VIP experience at The Pfitz! Jude will throw out a ceremonial first pitch to the tune of The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and will sit in the best seats in the house! She will meet the Potomac Nationals’ players and coaches before the game, get free access to the Kids Zone, and will receive all-you-can-eat vouchers at the concession stand. The P-Nats will also issue a Jayson Werth “Wolf-A-rine” figurine to Jude as a token of her fandom of The Wolf.

The Red, White, and Blue are set to roll out the P-Nats’ Red Carpet for a very special girl!

On Jude Oz Night, the Potomac Nationals will hold a 50/50 to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Jude’s charity of choice! Meanwhile, the P-Nats have set up a GoFundMe page to benefit St. Baldrick’s, as well.

If the P-Nats’ Jude Oz Night GoFundMe page reaches $5,000, five different members of the Potomac Nationals Front Office Staff will shave their head in a show of support for both the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and appreciation for the invaluable fundraising accomplished by the P-Nats’ fan base.

The P-Nats Front Office Shaved Head Roster will include: P-Nats General Manager of Sales, Bryan Holland, General Manager of Operations, Aaron Johnson, Assistant General Manager/Director of Stadium Operations, Arthur Bouvier, Business Intern, Matt Fasano, and Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations, Mike Weisman.

“The Potomac Nationals are extremely proud of Jude for her dedication to proliferating the fight against childhood cancer and stepping up to the plate for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation,” said Holland.

“We are very thankful that Talk Nats brought to the P-Nats a very unique charitable partnership opportunity that will serve to both honor Jude Oz for her terrific fundraising efforts for St. Baldrick’s and also directly impact St. Baldrick’s in a tangible way.”

At Jude’s request, the P-Nats will also host an equipment drive at the Extreme Custom Collision Ticket Office on Jude Oz Night. Every piece of equipment donated will go to benefit Washington, D.C. inner city youth and will be donated to children who attend Trea Turner’s Celebrity Baseball Camp on June 24th.

Jude’s mission through the conduit of the equipment drive is to pay it forward to less fortunate kids who love baseball and softball by supporting the Washington, D.C. community and showing P-Nats fans in Northern Virginia and D.C. how much she appreciates being able to visit both NoVA for a P-Nats game and our nation’s capital to catch her first Nats game.

“Jude’s gesture to organize an equipment drive at The Pfitz is just another example of how special she is, and how dedicated she is to helping others in need.”
