Katrina's in patient rehabilitation

Donation protected
On May 30th while driving to Her job Katrina was broadsided by a person blowing thru a stop sign @ 60 mph. She was extricated from her car and airlifted to Cooper Medical and spent six + weeks in the brain injury trauma unit.
She was transferred to a rehab in Malvern, Pa., one of the few rehabs that would take someone that needed an acute level of medical care. While there with intense therapy she eventually opened her eyes and was able to participate in her rehabilitation. During this time she had surgery on her legs to achieve the ability of eventually being able to walk on her own.
The end of November she was deemed no longer in need of medical care provided by this specialized rehab hospital and would need to br moved. Because she had casts on her legs from the surgery she was accepted at Bacharach Rehab Hospital in Pomona. The social worker there said this was the only reason she was accepted and only on a short term basis.
She was receiving therapy and care until the insurance company informed us that both auto and health insurance coverage funds were maxed out....the other driver was uninsured... And Dec. 31st was the last day she would be covered. He needed to put Katrina in a nursing home or take her home, no matter what he decided there were no more funds available for her care.
Meanwhile her BC/BS coverage by the State ended. My son who is active Air National Guard and has served in Afganistan, Iraq and various other deployments . He put Katrina on his plan inasmuch as under the Affordable Care Act, this seemed to be the best option (no denial for previous conditions).
Katrina was approved to participate in an in-patient rehab in Delran that specializes in traumatic brain injury. However they were denied coverage of rehab by the new insurance company. no appeal, no one seeing her; no consideration for doctors recommendations, etc., just NO.
She truly needs extensive in patient rehabilitation to get to her full potential. We are coming up on 10 months. A therapist came to the home one day a week but that was for a fixed time and has ended.
Emails have gone out to all representatives including to the White House (no answer) and although everyone is sympathetic, no one can come up with how to fund her necessary treatment.
Katrina and my son have a loving relationship. They do everything together, including each riding their own Harley's; cruises, concerts, movies, etc., which they are no longer able to do. They are active members in the Atlantic County Harley Owners Group Chapter with Katrina being the Ladies of Harley officer.
my son has taken a leave to be able to keep her home in a loving atmosphere and not as he was told ...put her in a nursing home. However he does have to return to his job, but she is not able to care for herself and cannot be left alone.
She said to me she just wants her life back. Can we help give her that? She was driving to work on a normal day, obeying the law and then this horrific accident stopped time for her.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
