My name is Amber-Lee and I am a single Mother to two wonderful children. I am a farm girl from New York State, a United States Navy Vet, an Alaska Big Game Guide, the Webmaster for Pioneer Outfitters and the author of two books.

I am raising money to repair and pay for the labor to move into our once nice and full of hope and happiness home. It wasn’t finished or glamorous but always very bright and welcoming.

Our home was horribly used and damaged at the hands of immoral renters and indifferent property managers. It was rendered unlivable and dangerous. It shames me to know, that beyond whose hands did the damage and no matter how much unethical and disinterested behavior has occurred, it is completely my own responsibility as I chose the managers and I am the one who gave permission to these people to rent out our home.

The money I raise will be used for the final materials needed and to pay for the labor to make our home livable again. Every cent I had saved and horded over the last 10 years (over $40,000.00) has been poured into this frustrating and heart-wrenching endeavor.

We need to raise this final money to finish the basic repairs and to pay for the labor to have these repairs done as soon as we can as we have been working non-stop, with no relief, for over 6 months now.

My son, daughter, my son’s dog and kitten and I have been blessed to be allowed to stay together, safe and warm living in a hotel room not far from where our home is located at no charge at all. Even so, it is very hard.

This fundraiser means so much. Owning our own home was more than simply a sense of pride to me. It was a permanent way to belong to this community. Security for myself and my children of course, but also a way to put down roots to grow and flourish, adding something positive and inspiring to our neighbors and community.

#Hope4Home means everything to us because Home, like family, is essential to not only my own children’s sense of security but it is also the base of operations of the child day care I started when I bought our home; Tok Tots. It is a vitally important need in our own and the surrounding communities.  It is our much needed source of income. Tok Tots is place for small children to grow, be and feel safe, happy and loved.

I will be forever grateful to all those who have helped and those you yet may help us to return to our home. So many people; family, friends, acquaintances and total strangers have already shown so much support and kindness to us and every single one will forever be etched on our hearts because nothing in the world means more to me than having a home to raise my children in and offer a safe and loving place for others to come to as well.

Asking for help is terribly hard. It is humiliating, really. But it is also what the Bible tells us to do when we are in need. I love to help others, in big ways and small ways. Sometimes, it is easy to help others and sometimes it can be difficult but it always feels good to help someone else. What I have learned though, over the years, is that it is pretty hurtful when someone refuses to ask or allow others to help them.

Thank you, with all of my sincerity and heart, for reading this.  Thank you if you can help and thank you if all you can do is share our need for help. I wish for you all the joy a life can hold.
