My name is Kristen Petersen. My fiancee's name is Philip Weaver. He is 37, and a small business owner in Whitehall, New York. He has a 10 year old daughter, and we have recently become engaged. Once we marry, he will also have a 7 year old step-daughter. On January 24th 2015, he was brought to the local hospital with severe headaches and intense nausea which had lasted about a month. Very shortly after our arrival there, he was transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire to see a Neurosurgeon for further diagnostics. Over the next few days, he underwent brain surgery to remove a golfball sized mass from his brain, which we later learned was a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme. This is a very aggressive type of brain cancer with a high rate of recurrance. We have been told by Doctors that this type of tumor typically recurs around 18 to 24 months, at which time it is often terminal. He is now undergoing Radiation every day, along with a six month Chemotherapy regimen. He has been unable to work since January, and we are unsure when he will be able to return. We are also facing substantial medical bills for his week long hospital stay and treatments.
We had been planning a destination wedding in coastal Florida. In the last few months however, our savings has been depleted. This has, and will continue to postpone our wedding. Our dream of having our wedding may even, be dashed altogether.
