Please help Lia to stay longer in my family

Lia came to my life over seven years ago. She was the smallest of the litter and was malnourished. For one month I had to wake up every two hours two feed this tiny life that needed me so much. But I needed her as much. She has been my company through my time in Canada, when I could barely speak any English and had no friends, I had my cat that understood me. She is no only cat, she is my family. After two years I had my kids, and I was afraid she was going to get distant, but instead she loves them, plays with them, and my 4 years old son looks for her every single day. He goes under the bed or the sofa just to kiss her. He ask me every morning to open a can of food for his “Lianurris” as he calls her, and he opens the door as soon as she wants to get outside or inside. The bond this two have is extremely sweet!
This afternoon, coming home I opened the door and Lia came inside, at first she looked normal and started meowing for her treat, and as I was opening a can of wet food she jumps to the countertop with half of her tail missing!!! We don’t know what happened to her, I was away for 6 hours today and wish to at least know how my Lia got in this horrible accident. We took her to the veterinary to get her checked, the vet said that this injury is called degloving, where a section of the skin is completely torn and basically the bone on her tail is exposed.
The vererinarian said this is extremely painful, gave her antibiotics and pain relief medicine. She told us the we only have two options, amputate her tail ASAP because of the risk of the infection is lethal, or to surrender Lia (which would never be an option to me). I cannot stop crying seeing my son so worried and sad making sure Lia is not in pain, and telling me to not touch her tail because it hurts her!

The amputation needs to be performed no later than this weekend to prevent the infection, but the cost is very high and I cannot afford it. Today’s visit to the pet clinic came to $273.10. The amputation cost comes to $2000 to $2300. I’m searching for a good clinic, but not so high in price.

$1, $5, $10 would not be much, but it makes the difference for me, my kids and Lia. She deserves A second opportunity, she is very playful, loves to cuddle, extremely obedient. Everyone that knows Lia, falls in love of how sweet she is!

I much appreciate any help, and I’m sure together we can save her life!
