Aracelio cruz aka pete was shot and killed Thursday night on 2nd and vanburen in wilmington, De. 
Just turned 59 in January. He was murdered on his way home from the store. There is currently no one in custody. The city of wilmington victims services and compensation has given us assistance to help towards laying our family to rest. We are greatly appreciative during this time of tragedy and financial hardships. To honor tio pete and the families wishes we are asking for donations of any amounts to assist us with giving him a proper burial. No amount is to small. We do thank you all for your condolences. Everyone who knew pete knew he was a peaceful man. No one deserves this. 
Aracelio “Pete” Cruz, age 59, of Wilmington, DE, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, 2019. Pete was a humble, hard-working, peaceful man who had a great sense of humor and a sweet tooth! He loved spending time with his cherished family whether it was at family gatherings, vacationing at the Atlantic City Shore, or playing basketball with them. Pete also enjoyed cheering for the Philadelphia sports teams. He will be dearly missed.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Luz “Tuty” Calderon; step-daughters, Dorcas Nieves (Miguel) and Yesika Nieves; grandchildren: Rafael Jr., Elias, and Donovan; best friend and sister, Isabel DeJesus; siblings: Rosie Padilla, Delia Cruz, Luis Guzman (Rosa), Tony DeJesus, and David DeJesus; niece and nephews whom he helped raise, Adrian, Franky, and Irene along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angel and Irene Cruz; son, Alexander Cruz; son-in-law, Rafael Calderon; brother, Hector DeJesus; sister and brother-in-law, Aida and Jose Carmona; and brother-in-law, Chago Padilla.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019, from 9:30-11 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Pete’s life at 11 AM.
