Dear friends and family of Teresa Swinson~

As we all know, Teresa has a huge heart, is one of the most generous and positive people we know, is a friend to all, and would do just about anything for anyone without asking for anything in return. In other words, there’s nothing not to love about Teresa!

Teresa was recently diagnosed with Large B-cell Lymphoma; a cancer of the B cells, also known as non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. None of us are immune to getting ill or facing our share of hard times, but Teresa has suffered a series of major difficulties over the past years. In 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy and several reconstructive surgeries. She was also recently diagnosed with diabetes, has multiple blood clots in her legs, and might be in need of a bone marrow transplant.

With all of the struggles Teresa and her family have dealt with over the years (i.e., her father passing of lung cancer; her mom passing of a heart attack; one of her sisters surviving a fight with lung cancer; and the other sister recently passing of lung cancer), Teresa has continued to find a way to remain positive. The world would be a happier place to live in if we could all be more like Teresa!

Despite these setbacks, Teresa has lived life with tremendous spirit and a sense of caring for others. For instance, in 2008 I joined Teresa and her team of friends for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk. Not only did all of us survive the Walk, Teresa went on to walk the Walk for seven more years in a row and volunteered as a crew member twice. In order to raise money for the Walks, Teresa organized multiple fundraisers. Nothing could stop her from fighting this fight!

This summer, Teresa was laid off after working for LTD Commodities for the past 14 years. She recently accepted a temporary position of employment with an organization that runs the breast cancer 3-Day. This is the perfect job for her, but it doesn’t provide health insurance, and the position is being eliminated at the end of this year, so once again, she will be unemployed.

When Teresa was let go from LTD, her insurance options were Obamacare or Cobra (both are expensive). She selected a plan through Obamacare, and her medications for chemo treatments and insulin injections are more than she can handle. In addition, her deductible is more than $6,500.

I’m writing to knock on your heart and to humbly ask if you could dig into your pockets to help cover some of Teresa's medial and living expenses so she can fight this horrible disease without having the added stress of finances.

Teresa is a fighter and an inspiration to all of us, and I hope you will join me in giving back.

Thank you!
