Hi, my name is Jon and this is my oldest cat Confucius.
Confucius is a 13 year old Siamese Hemingway cat with thumbs on his paws. For the last 12 years he's been my little buddy and my main source of joy in life. He's a very talky baby who demands attention all of the time.
However the last few months his health has really started to deteriorate. He's lost most of his eyesight, he's lost a lot of weight, and recently he's been unable to urinate. What little he does urinate, there's a black, crumbly deposit in his urine. We took him to the vet and after a costly urinalysis and blood testing, she was unable to find the source of his issues. She suggested we take him to the MSU Small Animal Hospital ASAP for overnight observation.
For the next 48 hours, he will be under an IV drip of fluids, and undergoing another urinalysis, x-ray, ultrasound, and additional medication once the diagnosis is confirmed at the hospital. The hospital vet is confident this will help him recover and he should be back on his feet soon. However a hospital visit comes with a very hefty price tag. The estimate the hospital gave us was around $2200, not including any possible additional treatment he may need. As hospital policy, I was asked to put down half as a deposit on the spot. Add our family vet costs of $200 which had to be paid as we left and it's become a massive financial strain on our family.
Normally, I would never do this. However such a significant financial burden has really hurt us. It was massively unexpected and as we're still paying for my mortgage, student loans, as well as my own kidney stone surgery, this new cost will significantly put us in a bind. We still have three other cats to treat as well as ourselves and we're unsure how we're going to be able to pay our bills this month. With your help, you can help get my oldest cat the treatment he needs so he can be a happy, healthy little brat that I've known and loved for over a decade.
Any amount above the goal will go towards his specialty renal diet to keep his kidneys happy, as well as food and vaccinations for our other 3 furkids. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you very much for considering helping our family out and appreciate your help and support!
