Please help Chloe raise the fee to #FreeIrving
For the past year, our beautiful Chloe Polo took part in a puppy-raising program for a local Assistance Dog Training organization in her area. This group had very few policies they enforced, but the one they did enforce was that the puppy raisers must incur all costs associated with raising the puppy. That’s right, even though the organization owns these dogs they convince students like Chloe to agree to incur all of their expenses. NEADs and other reputable Assistance Dog training organization do not work this way, ever!
Chloe was a full-time student wanting to do a good deed for someone in need. She raised this puppy at great expense to herself out love, and a wish to see someone receive a much-needed service dog. On top of food, flea/tick meds, and average dog care costs for shots, Irving incurred an additional very costly veterinary bill due to having a condition called cryptorchidism.
The Assistance Dog Training organization recently evaluated Irving and sadly determined he wouldn’t qualify for the assistance dog training program despite the year of training Chloe provided. Chloe was offered first chance to adopt Irving but only at an exorbitant cost to her – not in keeping with what Chloe was originally told.
Chloe doesn’t have the funds and tried to hold them to the original agreement. The organization was having none of it and threatened Chloe with a serious theft charge and arrest if she didn’t return Irving to them within 24 hours. Given she is to attend Law School in the fall she did return him, but under duress and with a broken heart. Irving is now sitting in a non-heated kennel awaiting his fate, which unless we can get him returned means adoption or a sale to whoever comes along.
After much back and forth with the Assistance Dog Training Organization we have been able to negotiate Irving's release back to Chloe.
Let's #FreeIrving and get him home to his "very special person"!
