Hello World.

I am a currently a dialysis patient, let me tell you how I got here.  At a young age of 15, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and I didn’t realize how this disease would have changed me throughout my life. Last year on May 13, 2018, I was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure, it was the most devastating news that changed my whole life forever. everyday feels like the longest days of my life. I am a peritoneal dialysis patient, and my dialysis treatment consists of 8 hours a day, I do mine through the night while I am sleeping where I connect myself to a machine, which is keeping me alive a process that I have to do every night.  Being a dialysis patient and diabetic has come with its complications, I have had two toe amputations; one amputation happened 2010 the second one happened July 9, 2019 which it has kept me off my feet for more than one month. I am still recovering from the surgery; the next step is physical therapy, so I can learn how to walk again. I am currently on home care due to the recent toe amputation a nurse comes three days a week to check a central line that I have connected to my heart where my wife installs antibiotics daily at night its part of the wound recovery also have an air vacuum hooked to my wound to help with the healing process. I have also had two angiograms within the year; one in May 2019 and the 2nd in July 2019.  I pray every day to God to give me the strength to overcome this and be blessed, and God did hear me, by blessing me a donor. By blessing me with a donor and an angel to give me one of her kidneys. God bless her soul, Diana Moreno. I am getting a second chance in life, thanks. Diana is my wife's cousin, She is a mother of 3; seven and a six-year-old boy and a three-year-old daughter.

This wasn't just hard for me, but also for my wife. My diagnosed happened six months after religious wedding, which would be of the happiest days of my life, only to find out later I had kidney failure. My wife has given me the support, and it is she who, I stay healthy for. She has done so much for me since my diagnosis if it weren’t for her, I would not know where I would be mentally, physically, or emotionally. It’s tough to go through this especially to feel like a burden, to the people you love and care about most, luckily I have the support, it has been a challenging year.

So I ask for your help because it has been a financial burden on my wife been she is the only income, we are in financial debt due to the medical hospital bills. This will also support for Diana bills that support her children. Knowing there is a possibility that she wouldn’t be a match but still a way to help me out with a kidney. The way it will help it’s called a swap. A paired kidney exchange, also known as a “kidney swap” occurs when a living kidney donor is incompatible with a recipient, and so exchanges kidneys with another donor/recipient pair. Diana will be donating her kidney to recipient, due to the fact that i am on a waiting list for a matching donor. Diana transplant is scheduled for the first week of September at UCSF.  We do not have the exact date, but once we know the date I will keep you guys updated through this journey.
