Hi my name is Jonah Slockee-Albert, I have recently been selected by team oz Australia to apply to US colleges, to compete at the highest level I can in basketball and to have a chance to progress my education and passion at a college level.
At a young age I found the love for the game of basketball, always having a ball with me at all times. growing up in the Indigenous Kimberly Community of Broome, Western Australia with my mother, Father and sisters times weren't always easy but I always had family and love for the game. My Indigenous Heritage runs deep inside me with my family spread far and wide over our beautiful Country.
My first ten years were spent with my parents after sending my younger sister and I over to Sydney to live with my grandmother to give us better opportunities that weren't available to us growing up in Broome WA.
When I reached Sydney my passion for the game grew as did my connection to country and a sense of who I wanted to be and wanted to accomplish in life.
This is where the hard work started. I trained my body as hard as I trained my mind because I was always taught "there are consequences for action" my grand mother would always tell me this and it became words I will live by. I focused my life on my education and basketball because i knew exactly what I wanted in life.
The Dream.
My dream is to go to a US. College and Study Sports Medicine bridging the gap between science and sport.
I want a degree to back me and support myself and family long after Basketball has finished, which brings me to Basketball the dream in to play in the NBA in doing this program with Team OZ Basketball i have the chance to step onto the big stage and be noticed by the top coaching staff and colleges in the USA killing two birds with one stone.
the team OZ Basketball program has helped many Australian Basketball player get noticed and and has lead to many kids with the right educational values and sports skills to be seen at this level.
Costs
The cost of the program is a fare cost for what it involves, two weeks in the USA to showcase my passions and travel to different colleges to see what the potentials are how I will fit into the works to accomplish my dreams.
In closing.
I have worked so hard weather it is training on the court or in the gym to knuckling down at school to keep my grades up so I can make this dream come true. I please ask you to help me as this journey and be apart of my future I will keep everyone updated as to my progress and include everyone in every step of the way
